The LBK is an 8-hour laser safety course (medical director: Dr. Bettina Rümmelein, speaker: Hans-Peter Diesner, electrical engineer specialized in laser technology since 1977, trainer for laser safety officers in Germany).
The course covers the safe use of lasers, unintentional side effects, adequate visual and other protective equipment as well as the right choice of laser type and parameters. In the 90-min medical part of the course, Dr. Rümmelein discusses the possibilities, limitations and side effects of laser skin treatments with clinical examples.
The course is concluded with a short test and is recognized by the Laser Commission FMCH as part of the training program to acquire the official laser certification. 6 credits points from the Laser Commission and 7 credit point from the SGDV are being awarded for this course. Medical practice assistants, nurses and other medical assistants receive a certificate confirming their participation.
